International Symposium on Modeling and Simulation of Complex Management Systems

June 5, 2016 Published

On June 5, 2016, College of Management at SZU and the research team of China Natural Science Foundation in Huazhong University (No.71531009) jointly organized "The Second International Symposium on Modeling and Simulation (ISMSCS 2016)". The symposium was successfully ended in Shenzhen University.

The symposium was hosted by associate professor Pan Yanchun in SZU and co hosted by professor Hu Bin coming from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Specifically, prominent experts in the field of modeling, simulation and optimization from home and abroad was invited to the symposium, such as professor Christos Alexopoulos and professor Anton Kleywegt from Georgia Institute of Technology, professor Young-Jun Son from University of Arizona, professor Sally Brailsford from University of Southampton, professor Chen Xu from University of electronic Science and Technology.

The opening ceremony was held in the Conference room 1400 at college of management, shenzhen University vice president Li Fengliang and the dean of SZUCM respectively gave welcoming speeches to all the attendees; SZUCM has successfully held the first ISMSCS in 2003, the current forum serves to provide an authoritative platform for the experts in the modeling and simulation field that they could share academic thoughts and put the theory into practice. Moreover, they are able to share research findings from professional perspective, so that they could foster the global development in modeling and simulation theory, methodology, and practice.

After the opening ceremony, the symposium came to the session of theme reporting. Firstly, deputy director of the Chinese Association for discrete Simulation system committee, Professor Hu Bin from Huazhong University of Science and Technology gave a lecture on "Organizational System Based on Internet of Things" , which display in detail as to how to organize the system design, optimization, analysis and verification. Then, Georgia Institute of Technology's simulation experts Christos Alexopoulos gave a report entitled "Challenges and Tradeoffs in Sequential Estimation of Steady-state Quantiles". Afterwards, professor Zhou Ming in Shenzhen University, and the associate professor Pan Yanchun also gave presentations respectively entitled "Simulation Models for Carbon-Resource Planning of Production Systems" and "A Trilateral Game Analysis on Carbon Emission Verification under C & T Scheme" , with the purpose of sharing the college’s team research progress with the participants scholars in relevant areas. The areas comprises of manufacturing enterprises decision problem modeling and simulation under the green carbon reduction environment, the game analysis for third-party verification of carbon emissions and so on. Experts from the University of Arizona, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology, North China Electric Power University and other universities also gave lectures.

During the symposium, the scholars attended had made fierce argument and in-depth discussions on the complex system modeling and simulation issues related to the field, teachers and students also actively participated in the question session. Participants had indicated that they were inspired by the question asked and they’ve had deeper thoughts on the vision and prospects in this field and by this symposium, exchanges and cooperation between domestic and foreign counterparts are strengthened. Finally, the symposium came to a complete success.
