On the afternoon of July 8, 2024, the 68th HRM New Knowledge Forum was successfully held in Room A205. The keynote speaker was Associate Professor Xiangmin Liu from the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University. Professor Liu's research focuses on strategic alignment between human resource systems and organizational goals, the impact of technological change and labor markets on HR practices, and the effects of HR practices on employee and organizational performance. She currently serves as an associate editor for the internationally renowned academic journal Human Resource Management and has received multiple awards in the fields of labor relations and human resources, including grants from the National Science Foundation and the John T. Dunlop Scholar Award from the Labor and Employment Relations Association.
The forum centered on "Points to Consider When Submitting to Human Resource Management Journal." As an associate editor of HRMJ, Professor Liu shared her extensive experience. She began by introducing the basic information about HRMJ, including its impact factor and publication details, and analyzed the submission trends in 2023. In 2023, HRMJ received over 500 submissions from scholars in China, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries. Professor Liu then discussed the types of articles most likely to be accepted by HRMJ, such as those with innovative approaches, deep theoretical insights, and practical significance. Conversely, papers with unclear research questions or insufficient theoretical contributions were more likely to be rejected. Finally, she detailed the differences between regular issues and special issues, shared her personal submission experiences, and insights from her role as a reviewer, encouraging attendees to submit their work to HRMJ.
During the Q&A session, Professor Liu engaged in a friendly and lively discussion with faculty and students, answering questions on topics such as the length of response letters and advice for submitting to HRMJ. The forum concluded successfully.
