Abstract
Green innovation is crucial for China's green transition, and the prerequisite for enterprises to engage in green innovation is whether it can enhance their financial performance. Additionally, companies must utilize financial leverage to stabilize funding for green innovation. However, the impact of financial leverage on the relationship between green innovation and corporate financial performance remains uncertain. This study examines the mechanisms through which green innovation affects corporate financial performance, as well as the interaction between green innovation and leverage on financial performance. The findings indicate a U-shaped relationship between green innovation and corporate financial performance, characterized by heterogeneity and negative effects of risk accumulation.
