Driving Management Innovation: SZU’s 12th Young Scientists Forum Features Yan Ming’s Insights on Digital & Intelligent Transformation School of Management | September 16, 2025 11:40:00 (Zhang Ruina, 1018555) On the morning of September 15, 2025, the 12th Session of the 2025 Young Scientists Series Forum of Shenzhen University (SZU) School of Management was held in Room A302 of Mingli Building. Chaired by Vice Dean Professor Chen Xingyu, the forum invited Professor Yan Ming from Jinan University to give a lecture themed "Organizational Behavior Research in Digital & Intelligent Transformation", with over 60 teachers and students participating both online and offline.

Professor Yan, whose research focuses on organizational behavior and human resource management, has published studies in top academic journals and led multiple National Natural Science Foundation projects. In his lecture, he put forward key research ideas: rechecking the validity of traditional management premises—for example, work-family balance has shifted from physical boundary distinction to psychological boundary management in virtual office environments—and pointing out challenges faced by classic theories under the context of digital monitoring. He also guided the audience to reflect on two critical questions: whether previous research conclusions show opposite effects in the digital era, and whether traditional management models (such as Taylor’s scientific management) have returned in the form of algorithmic management.

The forum’s Q&A session was lively, with participants raising questions like "how to capture the essential differences brought by the digital era" and "how to effectively incorporate algorithm-related constructs into research". In response, Professor Yan emphasized that researchers should avoid treating digitalization merely as a contextual variable; instead, they need to explore in depth how digitalization reconstructs behavioral motivations and organizational mechanisms to develop differentiated theoretical models.

Vice Dean Chen Xingyu concluded the forum by noting that the lecture provided vital inspiration for innovative research on organizational behavior in the digital age. He also highlighted that the Young Scientists Forum, which includes "Distinguished Experts Session" and "Young Scholars Session", serves as a bridge connecting top academic talents with the school’s faculty and students. By promoting interdisciplinary communication, the forum continuously boosts the school’s research vitality and enhances its academic influence.
