On the afternoon of December 6, 2020, the 11th Shenzhen Expats Chinese Talent Contest (finals) was held at Futian Shangri-La Hotel. A Thai undergraduate, Phurin Sae-wang, from SZUCM was crowned the top winner in the adult group, winning honor for Shenzhen University.
Launched in 2010, the contest is an annual event hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, the Shenzhen Municipal Government Information Office, and organized by Shenzhen Daily and eyeshenzhen.com, the English-language portal of Shenzhen. What’s more coincident, this time it happened to be the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. Ten finalists of ten nationalities made it a vehicle to showcase their Chinese speaking and talents by sharing views on the drastic changes which have happened to this city and their brilliant stories with this thriving city.
Not only the topical Chinese speech and the talent show, but the Chinese word-guessing game, stunned the audience and climaxed the competition. After these three rounds, Phurin Sae-wang, an international undergraduate from SZUCM, bagged the first prize of the adult group.
