Excellence Business Management Case Workshop (2024 Shenzhen Station)

Shenzhen University's College of Management and Tsinghua University's School of Economics and Management co-hosted the "Excellence Business Management Case Workshop (2024 Shenzhen Station)" on December 7, 2024. The event aimed to innovate business management teaching methods, enhance the development and teaching level of case studies, attract more experts to participate in case teaching and development, and promote the high-quality development of management cases in China.

The workshop was chaired by Dr. Pan Yanping, Director of the Case Study Research Center. Attendees included Vice Dean Jiang Jianwu, MBA Education Center Director Cui Shijuan, Professor Jin Yongjun from Tsinghua University, Professor Zhou Zhimin from Shenzhen University, Professor Su Xiaohua from Jinan University, and Senior Researcher Li Xiaohui from China Business Case Center. The workshop attracted 102 teachers from 40 universities nationwide.

The opening remarks were delivered by Vice Dean Jiang, followed by keynote speeches. Professor Jin Yongjun focused on "Value Conflicts and Choices," providing an in-depth analysis of business management case teaching. His insightful views and vivid teaching cases sparked lively discussions among participants. Next, Professor Zhou Zhimin provided an engaging presentation on the seven steps of writing management cases.

In the afternoon, Professor Su Xiaohua shared insights and experiences in "Entrepreneurship and Innovation Case Development," which resonated strongly with the participants. Finally, Dr. Li Xiaohui detailed Tsinghua School of Economics and Management's mature experience in teaching case standards and editorial processes, providing valuable references for the attending teachers. Dr. Pan Yanping summarized the speeches and the workshop, expressing hope that through management cases, teaching quality can be improved, theory and practice can be integrated, and responsible management research can be conducted to further promote the development of the business management discipline. Throughout the day, participants engaged in in-depth and heated discussions on the relevant topics, with the guest speakers providing detailed answers.

The successful holding of the workshop not only provided beneficial insights for case researchers on case teaching, writing, and development but also built an efficient platform for exchange and cooperation. Participants expressed that they gained a lot from the use and development of cases. Looking forward, there is anticipation for more distinctive Chinese business case studies to improve teaching quality and cultivate talented professionals with solid expertise and innovative skills.
