March 18, 2025 Published

On January 18, 2025, Starry Sea, an MBA team from our college, was invited to participate in Hong Kong Techaton+ Competition after winning the second place in 929 Sino-Portuguese Innovation Challenge. In this competition, Huang Kaishan mentor from SZU Dual Creation Center gave careful guidance to the team, and Mr. Li Ze, the head of MBA Class 2024, led the team, which consisted of six students, namely, Deng Langlang, Yang Zhicong, Yang Shu, Xiao Chunlai, Zhang Ying and Xu Mingjie.

The team's project is eVTOL motor for low-altitude economy, which closely follows the theme of Green Tech and actively responds to the national call. Whether in the initial conceptualization stage, or in the later stages of the project, the group members went all out to achieve the perfect presentation of each detail. This journey is both a challenge and a sharpening, so that the team members continue to grow and improve in practice.

After several rounds of selection and fierce competition with teams from the University of California, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, University of Queensland and Tsinghua University in Taiwan, Starry Sea won the final prize for its unique product. In the end, Starry Sea won the landing invitation from HKSTP Ideation with its unique product innovation and strong team competitiveness, and successfully landed in Hong Kong Science Park to enter the one-year incubation period, and at the same time obtained HK$100,000 in non-equity financing.

Through this tournament, every member of Starry Sea Team deeply realized that achievement often comes from unremitting pursuit and persistence, and failure is just a necessary path to success. As Mr. Li Ze encouraged after the tournament, “This is just the beginning, the future journey has just begun, and the road ahead is also full of hope and light.”
