MBA management skills seminars were successfully launched
A three-day MBA management skills seminar was held on February 18th (Saturday), February 19th (Sunday), and February 25th (Saturday) at the Shenzhen University Xili Campus in the Shouzhong Building and Sifang Building. The keynote speakers for this management skills seminar included Professor Liu Jun, Ma Xinchuan, Lin Xin, Li Li, Yin Yamin, and Zhang Guangjian.
Seminar one: Negotiation Skills
On the morning of February 18 (Saturday), Professor Liu Jun talked about the definitions, benefits and examples of negotiation skills. Students got some new insights of negotiation skills because Professor Liu Jun explained in a simple way. Delaying making a decision or stalling in business negotiations was both a common and successful strategy. There were two main reasons for this. It was a tactic to get a better offer. Otherwise is to wait for other offers. Students from his seminar reported that they easily surpass their expectations. Some confessed at the start of seminar that negotiating left them feeling stressed out. They graduate feeling confident, and eager to tackle their next negotiation.
Seminar two: Stress Management and Emotional Health
On February 18th (Saturday) afternoon, Professor Ma Xinchuan talked about the importance of having strong emotional wellness and a healthy body. Stress is a normal reaction to the pressures of everyday life. Worry, fear, anger, sadness and other emotions are also all normal emotional responses. They are all part of life. However, if the stress that underlies these emotions interferes with your ability to do the things you want or need to do, this stress has become unhealthy. Professor Ma believed that sadness harmed the lungs, anger harmed the liver, and fear harmed the kidneys. Therefore, we should strive to cope with emotional stress better. There were many techniques that can be tried to better manage emotional stress, such as practice meditation and distract yourself.
Seminar three: Public Opinion Management Methods and Strategies in the Mobile Internet Era
On the morning of February 19 (Sunday), the so-called public opinion refered to the uncontrollable situation caused by well-intentioned people, and its essence lies in the lack of communication. Public opinion management was a proactive approach to effectively handling and resolving public opinion through methods such as public opinion communication, crisis management, daily publicity, and government transparency.
In the era of mobile internet, public opinion management should make good use of the power of interviews to resolve public opinion with facts and truths, and should actively adopt a positive attitude towards the public and be cautious about using information from "unknown sources". The essence of crisis public relations lies in managing public emotions, and the information age of modern internet requires us to not lie and not underestimate the intelligence of netizens.
Seminar four: Business Etiquette
On the afternoon of February 19 (Sunday), Professor Li patiently taught her students the ways of business etiquette, emphasizing the importance of shaping one's image. She used practical examples to explain to her students how to shape their own etiquette image. Etiquette was a kind of soft power, a behavioral norm formed in human society for mutual respect. The core value of etiquette was respect, reverence, and treating others as oneself.
Seminar five: The Manager's Charming Speech
On the morning of February 25 (Saturday), Professor Yin Yamin emphasized the importance of charming speech to students from the perspectives of content, ideas, logic, and persuasiveness, and stressed the importance of 21-day speech training. Professor Yin guided the students to practice speaking and emphasized the importance of being confident and brave while speaking. Speaking involves controlling your breath and speaking clearly so that others can hear you. Professor Yin taught the techniques to the students and led them in practicing how managers can deliver charismatic speeches in action.
Seminar six: Cross-Cultural Management Skills
On the afternoon of February 25 (Saturday), Professor Zhang Guangjian emphasized the need to pay attention to the three attributes of a enterprise: commercial, social, and political. Cross-cultural managers should possess the following characteristics: strong moral character, strong management ability, strong foreign language ability, high cultural adaptability, and familiarity with the corresponding industry. Then, Professor Zhang introduced the main cultural differences of cross-cultural enterprises as well as the impact of cross-culturalism on enterprise operation. The impact was not only on the way employees interact with each other, but also on the decisions of managers, even affecting the management structure of the department and the organization. It was the manager’s responsibility to design practical and feasible organizational structures and management mechanisms to deal with cross-cultural conflicts, rationally allocate enterprise resources, especially human resources in cross-cultural enterprises.
