On the afternoon of December 23, 2024, under the organization of the College of Management, our university's " Famous Teachers Enter High School " event was held at Foshan No. 3 Middle School. Associate Professor Zhang Haodi from the College of Computer and Software Engineering delivered an engaging lecture titled "The New Era of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges Brought by Large Models", which was warmly welcomed by both teachers and students at Sanshui High School.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Zhang Haodi used Chat GPT as a starting point, quickly capturing the students' attention and sparking their strong interest in the field of artificial intelligence. He explained the basic concepts of large models in a simple and understandable way, using vivid examples to help students understand how artificial intelligence works in various scenarios such as image recognition, speech recognition, and physical robots. He presented the wonderful picture of artificial intelligence in the new era from three aspects: what, why, and how.

When talking about the opportunities brought by artificial intelligence, Professor Zhang listed frontier applications such as medical image diagnosis, pointing out that artificial intelligence provides strong support for the innovative development of various industries. Professor Zhang analyzed challenges from aspects such as changes in employment structure, technical safety and reliability, and information cocoons, guiding students to think comprehensively about the potential problems under the development of artificial intelligence. Professor Zhang's lecture triggered the students' thinking about the problems faced by the development of artificial intelligence and aroused their great interest in AI.

During the Q&A session, the students actively asked questions, including how to define whether AI has free will. Professor Zhang patiently answered and encouraged the students to study mathematics, computer science and other basic disciplines well, and to cultivate innovative thinking and practical abilities. After the lecture, the students were still eager for more and surrounded Professor Zhang to ask more questions. Some students asked whether the black box problem of artificial intelligence could be alleviated by inputting rule logic to AI. Others were curious about the application of artificial intelligence in autonomous driving.
