Famous School & Elite Faculty Forum (No. 171 and 172)

On the morning of December 18, 2020, Famous School & Elite Faculty Forum (No. 171 and 172) of SZUCM was successfully held in the 1400 conference room, with the themes of “Operation Management of International Container Shipping Federation System” and “Social Welfare Effect of Effective Energy Subsidies —— an Empirical Analysis based on Non-parametric Additive Model”. Chen Jihong, professor and doctoral supervisor at Shanghai Maritime University’s College of Transport & Communications, and Xu Bin, Associate Professor from School of Statistics at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, were invited. Li Li, professor and dean of SZUCM, and Pan Yanchun, professor and associate Dean of SZUCM, co-chaired the meeting. He Jun, Secretary of SZUCM, Xiong Yi, Yan Wen, Li Xin, teachers of the college, together with some graduates, attended the forum.

Professor Chen Jihong introduced the overall research framework of the operation management of international container shipping federation system, such as researches on strategic decision making, on tactical operation and on management system, and demonstrated the multi-objective optimization model of cooperation shared in the container shipping federation system. At nearly the end of his speech, he expatiated on the future trends involved in his latest research, extending to the study on international maritime policy assessment and management system as well as international maritime sustainable governance.

Associate professor Xu, quoting the definition of traditional fossil energy subsidies, started from the current situation of carbon emission reduction and pointed out that due to the inefficiency of the traditional fossil subsidies, it is a certain direction to reform the existing energy subsidies. He elaborated on the two innovative points and the empirical analysis in his research. For example, the connotation of effective energy subsidies was clearly defined, based on the theory of energy economics; the non-parametric additive regression model featuring in data-driven approach was constructed, based on the basic principle of additive model.

After their sparkled speeches, questions and doubts were raised. Teachers and students present had a heated discussion. This forum drew to its close with great expectations.
